Arrive in Venice
Welcome to the City of Canals. Take a water taxi to your hotel and begin to be amazed by the amphibious Venetians and their city, still afloat against all odds. Early this evening meet your fellow seafarers at the Young Life Welcome Reception at the St. Regis Venice. Following the reception, you are free to enjoy dinner wherever you choose. And if you wish, find an after-dinner gondolier to glide you through the city’s canals…lights twinkling above the watery labyrinth…romantic serenades…could there be an evening more sublime?
Tuesday, August 25
Murano | Torcello | Burano | Embarkation
The afternoon you first board the ship is always one of the most exciting parts of the trip, both for neophyte voyagers and repeat sailors. But first we explore the outlying islands of the Venetian lagoon.
After breakfast, a private motor launch collects us for the ride to nearby Murano, a small cluster of islands which have been the home of Venice’s renowned glassmaking industry for centuries. Here we will see master craftsmen adeptly transform gobs of molten paste into exquisite vases, goblets, and other works of original art.
Our floating coach next delivers us to the nearby island of Torcello. This once thriving island now only hosts a few dozen inhabitants, but its past glory is still reflected in its Byzantine cathedral, the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. Beautiful mosaics adorn the apse and interior walls, and marble panels are carved with reliefs of peacocks, lions, and exquisite flowers.
Our last island stop is the most colorful of the Venetian lagoon, Burano, where the Scuola dei Merletti still teaches young women the elegant art of needle lace making since the 1500s.
After free time for shopping and exploring lunch options of seafood delicacies from the Venetian Lagoon (and pasta, of course!), our private water transfers await to ferry us directly to SEA CLOUD II. Our majestic windjammer is spotted easily among the other vessels, and the Captain and crew welcome us at the gangway with smiles and champagne. Unpack one time for seven memorable nights…42 billowing sails will be carrying you from one memorable port to the next. Soon the deckhands are busy, lines are loosed, and we make our dramatic exit of the Grand Canal to begin our Adriatic Young Life Adventure.
Wednesday, August 26
Ravenna | Italy
Tucked innocently away amongst the art-rich towns of Emilia-Romagna, Ravenna is not to be missed by anyone interested in the shadowy history of Italy through the Dark Ages. Here devout monks “kept alive the flame of knowledge.” And as one would expect, as once the capital of the Byzantine Empire, the city’s churches are artistic masterpieces, decorated with the finest mosaics ever tessellated.
It’s back on board the ship for lunch and an afternoon of Adriatic sailing. Tonight the Captain and officers officially welcome us on board at a Cocktail Party followed by a Gala Dinner in the ship’s dining room.
Thursday, August 27
Pula | Croatia
Early this morning we maneuvered into Pula’s well-protected harbor. Founded by Greek settlers in 500 BC, this town was reorganized as a Roman colony by Caesar Augustus in 40 BC. Surrounded by seven hills, the modern buildings of Pula mix with a multitude of Roman ruins. The focus of our visit is the superb amphitheater, built in the 1st century AD to house gladiatorial contests witnessed by as many as 20,000 spectators.
Back on board the SEA CLOUD II by lunchtime, we hope for favorable sailing winds this afternoon. And the yards of canvas backdrop will provide an unforgettable setting for some rollicking and meaningful Young Life Clubs aboard our sailing ship.
Friday, August 28
Day at Sea
A full day at sea is a respite to be savored. With no port calls today, sleep in! Then join the mid-morning brunch and savor the crafts of our dedicated baker who began his work at dawn. Relax with old and new Young Life friends as the SEA CLOUD II graces the Adriatic Sea's azure waters. The ship's library offers a selection of titles perfect for leisurely reading while basking in the gentle sunshine from a comfortable deckchair. Officers on the open bridge are always delighted to discuss the operations of our vessel— of the intricacies of sail maneuvers.
As SEA CLOUD II sails proudly under full canvas, we will gather for a time of fellowship in the Young Life Club, where moments of joy and reflection abound, as Newt, Susan, and the Young Life staff offer both uplifting laughter and meaningful Scriptural insights.
Saturday, August 29
Korčula | Croatia
This afternoon we arrive in Korčula, a town steeped in legend as the birthplace of the famed explorer Marco Polo. Take a leisurely stroll through the charming cobbled streets of the Old Town, where you can immerse yourself in the town's medieval atmosphere. A visit to the Cathedral of St. Mark is highly recommended—its stunning Gothic and Renaissance architecture stands as a central landmark, while the bell tower offers breathtaking panoramic views of both the town and the shimmering sea beyond.
A highlight of our visit is an exclusive evening Moreska sword dancing performance—a must-see! This captivating and spirited tradition features a gallant hero battling to rescue the damsel in distress, with all the theatrical flair you'd expect. It’s pure fun, steeped in history, and a vivid demonstration of Korčula's cultural heritage. The Moreska sword dance has been a beloved part of the town’s traditions for over 400 years and is proudly listed on the Republic of Croatia's Intangible Heritage List. It’s an experience you won’t soon forget.
Sunday, August 30
Split | Croatia
A port stop in Split, Croatia, is a journey into the heart of ancient history and Mediterranean charm. As you disembark, you’re greeted by the lively energy of the city, where Roman heritage meets modern vibrancy. Split’s Old Town is centered around the stunning Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most impressive Roman ruins in the world.
Built as the retirement residence of the Roman Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century, the palace is not just a monument but a living part of the city. Its vast, labyrinthine complex houses both historical sites and bustling cafes, shops, and residences. Walk through the Peristyle, an open-air courtyard surrounded by grand columns, and admire the architecture that has withstood centuries.
Our voyage presents numerous opportunities to harness the wind along the breathtaking Dalmatian Coast, allowing us to sail through crystal-clear waters and admire the rocky coastline. SEA CLOUD II and her dedicated crew craft unforgettable adventures, where every moment on board is filled with excitement, discovery, and exceptional service.

Tivat | Montenegro
The penultimate day of our journey takes us to Montenegro, a small but proud country whose 234 miles of coastline, though much less than Croatia’s 1777 miles, surely rivals in beauty. As we dock in the stunning, brand-new Porto Montenegro, travelers will have the choice between a relaxed day of shopping the many luxury boutiques and strolling the seaside streets of Tivat, or an excursion to view the Bay of Kotor from magnificent heights. Those who choose the latter option will take a coach to the Kotor-Lovćen Cable Car, a modern feat of engineering designed to access the Lovćen National Park overlooking the Bay of Kotor, whose brilliant waters are flanked by fjord-like mountains. Stop for unparalleled views at the upper station. Make your way back to our floating lodgings to freshen up before donning the best you brought for a Captain’s champagne party and a grand finale dinner one deck below.
Tuesday, September 1
Dubrovnik | Disembarkation
Our sailing concludes at this ancient port city that once served as an autonomous republic for merchants and sailors. It is obvious immediately that the medieval walled city is known as “the pearl of the Adriatic” and deserves its UNESCO world heritage status.
This morning we bid farewell to the Captain and our accommodate-every-wish crew, and heartfelt goodbyes are exchanged among Young Life guests and hosts. A coach transfer to the Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) is available to those heading home. Please make your flight arrangements for after 11:30 a.m. Godspeed!
Dubrovnik Extension
Tuesday, September 1 - Wednesday, September 2
Consider staying for a day to visit some of the highlights of this city called “paradise on earth” by playwright George Bernard Shaw. After disembarkation, we will breach the fortifications of the Old City and begin with the tranquil cloister of the Franciscan Monastery. Founded in the 13th century, the monastery melds Romanesque and Gothic architecture and houses one of the oldest continuously operated pharmacies in Europe. Founded in 1317, the pharmacy still sells medicinal herbs, traditional remedies, and other natural products, just as it has done for centuries.
Another captivating location is the Rector’s Palace, housing several baroque paintings and other historical exhibits. Once the residence of the elected rector of the Republic of Ragusa, it now serves as a museum. The rector only unpacked for a short, one-month stint since the republic aimed to avoid any single person from obtaining too much power for too long.
After lunch we will have time for a leisurely walk around Dubrovnik’s worldfamous city walls. Two kilometers long and 25 meters high, this stone curtain around the city has fantastic and ever-changing sea views. There will be time to wander from the Stradun and explore any of the interesting shops that catch your eye.
End your day with a private performance by Ensemble Lindo, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the soul-stirring traditional music and dance of the Dalmatian coast. Through the art of polyphonic singing, the ensemble brings to life the timeless klapa music style—a cherished treasure that continues to resonate deeply with younger generations. This performance offers a unique auditory window into the heart and spirit of the Croatian people, capturing their rich heritage and emotional depth in every note.
After a restful night at the luxurious Bellevue Dubrovnik, enjoy breakfast before departing for your flight home or to your next adventure.
