St. Peter’s Basilica - Domitilla Catacombs - Appian Way -San Paolo Fuori Le Mura

St. Peter’s is the most renowned basilica in Christendom—the masterpiece of many great
Italian Renaissance architects and artisans. The most ancient underground cemetery in Rome is Domitilla Catacombs, where frescos dating from the second century testify to the faith of some of the earliest Christians. Basilica Papale di San Paolo Fuori Le Mura stands, according to tradition, on the site of the apostle Paul’s burial. Lunch at leisure today, but be sure to save an appetite for our private group dinner at St. Regis Hotel this evening.

Pantheon - Mamertime Prison - Roman Forum - Colosseum

Pantheon

Today is filled with important ancient sites of interest. Let’s carefully examine the great Arch of Titus (circa 82 A.D.) next to the Roman Forum. Pay particular attention to the relief showing spoils from the Sack of Jerusalem by Titus in 70 A.D. Every Christian visiting Rome should see the Colosseum. What courage some of our earliest brothers and sisters in the faith exhibited!

And the ancient Mamertime Prison is considered by many scholars as the location where Paul was held before his appearance in front of the Roman court. Wander the cobbled streets for various lunch options and enjoy some free time in the Monti District. And the pagan Pantheon, now the sight of a church, is the quintessential symbol of this classical city. Remember to join your fellow travelers for the YOUNG LIFE Welcome Reception at St. Regis Hotel before heading out to dinner with the company of your choosing.

Inclusions: Two hotel nights at location corresponding to SEA CLOUD II cabin selection, two breakfasts at your hotel and dinner at St. Regis Hotel on June 8, and all tours with our  expert local guides and luxury motor coaches.
